Abstract
The increasing number of elderly people in Trenggalek Regency has not been matched by the availability of adequate social facilities. To date, the area lacks a permanent nursing home, so services for neglected elderly people remain temporary. This situation underpins the design of the Meaningful Aging Nursing Home in Trenggalek Regency, an effort to provide decent and meaningful housing, with attention to the social, psychological, and emotional aspects of the elderly. The design method utilizes a pragmatic approach combined with a contemporary biophilic approach, focusing on concrete solutions to site conditions and user needs. The Meaningful Aging concept is realized through spatial and environmental designs that encourage meaningful life for the elderly, such as providing social interaction areas, activity spaces tailored to interests, therapeutic green areas, and naturally interconnected pedestrian paths. The design results demonstrate that the application of this concept is able to create a nursing home environment that is not only livable but also supports the physical health, emotional stability, and meaningful life for the elderly through social connectedness, spirituality, and closeness to nature. Keywords: Nursing Home, Meaningful Aging, Biophilic, Pragmatic, Elderly
