Abstract
The growing number of students in Surabaya, particularly those receiving the Indonesia Smart College Card (KIP-K), has led to an increasing need for decent, affordable housing close to campus. The cost of living in a metropolitan city like Surabaya often presents a barrier for low-income students, making the provision of dormitories a strategic solution to support their studies and reduce their financial burden. The design of this student dormitory in Surabaya uses a Behavioral Architecture approach, emphasizing the reciprocal relationship between physical space and the behavior patterns of its occupants. This approach ensures that the space is not only technically functional but also encourages social interaction, psychological comfort, independence, and student academic productivity. The facilities designed include communal bedrooms, shared study spaces, communal spaces, a pantry, prayer areas, a sports room, and domestic facilities such as laundry and a dining room. The site was selected based on its proximity to the ITS academic complex, accessibility, the surrounding environment, and infrastructure support. This design aims to produce housing that is safe, comfortable, inclusive, and meets the behavioral needs of KIP-K students. This creates a conducive living environment that supports academic achievement and fosters character within the community.
