Abstract
UD. Permata Alam is a wood-processing manufacturing company with plywood as its main product. The company still faces several problems, such as unstable production achievement, suboptimal quality control, employee turnover, and limited use of production data as a basis for evaluation. This study aims to measure the performance level of UD. Permata Alam and provide improvement recommendations based on the Malcolm Baldrige Criteria for Performance Excellence (MBCfPE) method. The research data were obtained through questionnaires distributed to 30 internal respondents who were directly involved in the company’s operational activities. The research instrument was tested using SmartPLS through convergent validity, discriminant validity, and reliability tests. Furthermore, performance assessment was carried out based on the seven MBCfPE criteria. The results show that UD. Permata Alam obtained a total score of 614.42 out of 1000 points, or 61.42%, with a gap of 385.58 points from the ideal score. This score places the company in the Emerging Industry Leadercategory with an Average class classification. The highest achievement was found in the Results criterion at 65.20%, while the lowest achievement was found in the Leadership criterion at 53.62%. These findings indicate that the company’s work system has started to operate, but it is not yet fully optimal due to weaknesses in leadership, strategic planning, quality control, production data utilization, and workforce management. The improvement recommendations are directed toward strengthening leadership roles, adding Quality control, Production Coordinator, and HRD functions, utilizing production data as a basis for evaluation, recording customer complaints, developing process inspection standards, implementing occupational health and safety, and providing training and rewards for employees.
