Abstract

Product distribution is one of the important activities in a company to ensure products reach customers on time and efficiently. PT Tunggal Djaja Indah is a manufacturing company engaged in paint production with quite complex distribution activities. The problem faced by the company is the determination of distribution routes that are still based on driver habits without systematic calculations, resulting in less than optimal distribution. This study aims to analyze the use of the Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) method in determining the proposed distribution route by considering the distance and vehicle capacity factors. The method used is Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) combined with the Capacitated Vehicle Routing Problem (CVRP). The data used include distributor location data, distance between distributors, product demand, and the company's actual distribution costs. The results of the study show that the application of the CVRP-based ACO method is able to produce a more optimal distribution route compared to the company's existing route with a total reduction in distance traveled by 6.79% and a reduction in distribution costs by 6.40%. Thus, the CVRP-based ACO method can be used as a recommendation in planning a more efficient distribution route at PT Tunggal Djaja Indah.
