Abstract

Road pavement damage is a common problem that can affect the comfort, safety, and mobility of road users. The Gayam – Sidorejo Road section located in Kediri District has an important role as a transportation route that supports community activities; therefore, periodic evaluation of pavement conditions is required. This study aims to identify types of pavement damage, determine the road condition value using the Pavement Condition Index (PCI) method and the Bina Marga method, and map the distribution of road damage using a Geographic Information System (GIS). The research was conducted through field surveys to obtain data on the type, severity level, and dimensions of pavement damage along a road section of approximately 8.383 km which was divided into nine segments. The collected data were analyzed using the PCI method to determine the road condition index on a scale of 0 – 100 and the Bina Marga method to determine road condition levels and maintenance priorities. The results show that the identified damages include alligator cracking, edge cracking, longitudinal cracking, transverse cracking, rutting, patching, potholes, and surface wear. The PCI values range from 36.20 to 87.10, while the Bina Marga method indicates condition values between 2 and 6. GIS mapping successfully visualizes the spatial distribution of road damage, facilitating the identification of segments requiring priority maintenance.
