Abstract

The Field Work Practice Program (PKL) at PT Dicoding Akademi Indonesia through Bangkit Academy 2024 aimed to develop the VegeCare application to support home-based plant cultivation. This development was based on Indonesia’s low Global Food Security Index score of 46.3, which reflects food security challenges, especially among low-income households. VegeCare was designed to address users’ limited knowledge in caring for plants, identifying plant diseases, and understanding the impact of climate on plants. The application development process consisted of five stages: planning, prototyping and design, development, testing, and deployment. The technologies used included Android Studio, Flask, TensorFlow, and Google Cloud Platform services such as Cloud Run. The main features include machine learning-based plant disease detection, real-time weather monitoring, a notification system, and plant management. The final result is a functional VegeCare application with an accurate machine learning model, a user-friendly interface, and efficient cloud-based technology integration.
