Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of Good Corporate Governance (GCG) on the financial performance of PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy Tbk for the period 2020–2025. The independent variables in this study consist of institutional ownership, independent commissioners, and audit committees, while the dependent variable is financial performance, which is proxied by Return on Assets (ROA), Return on Equity (ROE), and Net Profit Margin (NPM). This research uses a quantitative approach with an associative research type. The data used are secondary data obtained from the company’s financial statements and annual reports. The analysis technique employed is multiple linear regression using SPSS, along with classical assumption tests and hypothesis testing. The results of this study indicate that partially, each GCG variable has a different effect on the company's financial performance. Institutional ownership shows an influence in improving financial performance through its monitoring function of management. Independent commissioners have an inconsistent effect, depending on the effectiveness of their role and independence in supervision. Meanwhile, the audit committee plays a role in improving the quality of financial reporting, although its impact on financial performance may vary. Simultaneously, institutional ownership, independent commissioners, and the audit committee have a significant effect on the company’s financial performance. This study implies that the effective implementation of GCG can enhance transparency, accountability, and financial performance, particularly in state-owned enterprises in the energy sector. Therefore, companies are expected to strengthen governance mechanisms to minimize risks and increase investor confidence.
