Abstract

Raw material procurement plays a crucial role in supporting the smooth running of the production process. Inefficiencies in the procurement stage can lead to waste, which in turn increases operational costs and leads to production delays. PT Asuka Engineering Indonesia still faces various forms of waste in the procurement process for steel plates and pipes, such as waiting times, inventory buildup, excessive material movement, and material quality discrepancies. This study aims to identify waste occurring in the raw material procurement process and to propose improvements to increase process efficiency. The methods used include Value Stream Mapping (VSM) to map the flow of material and information under actual conditions, and Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) to determine risk priorities based on the Risk Priority Number (RPN) value. Research data were obtained through observation, interviews, and documentation. The analysis results indicate that procurement activities are still dominated by activities that do not provide added value. Improvement proposals are prepared using the 5W+1H approach and are expected to reduce waste and increase the efficiency of the raw material procurement process.
