Abstract

This study aims to design and build a Decision Support System (DSS) in determining eligible students for the National Selection Based on Achievement (SNBP) at SMAN 8 Surabaya using the Additive Ratio Assessment (ARAS) method. SMAN 8 Surabaya still applies manual value compilation in eligible students, which can cause various obstacles. To overcome these problems, this study was developed to assist the school in objectively assessing and ranking eligible students using the ARAS method based on predetermined academic and non-academic criteria. The ARAS method is used because it is able to process multi-criteria in a structured manner and produce preference values that are used as the basis for student ranking. System testing is carried out through white box testing to ensure that all logic flows and calculation processes run according to design. In addition, accuracy testing is carried out by comparing the results of system calculations and manual calculations which show a level of conformity of 100%. Usability testing using the System Usability Scale (SUS) involved 20 respondents and produced an average score of 88.38 which is included in the excellent (B) category, thus indicating that the system is easy to use and acceptable to users. The results of this study prove that the developed system is able to provide recommendations for eligible SNBP students accurately, consistently, and is suitable for implementation as a decision-making tool in the school environment.
