Abstract

The increasingly intense industrial competition requires companies to maintain and improve product quality. PT XYZ is a manufacturing company that produces plastic sacks such as woven bags with a defect rate of 3.14%, which exceeds the company's target of below 2%. This study aims to assess the quality of woven bag products and provide improvement recommendations to enhance product quality. The study was conducted using Statistical Quality Control (SQC) and Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) methods. The results from the SQC method show that there are four types of defects in woven bag products: knitting defects (27.1%), improper stitching (25.6%), uneven cuts (24.3%), and incorrect printing (23%). The results from the SQC method showed that there are four types of defects in woven bags, namely knitting defects (27.1%), incorrect stitching (25.6%), uneven cutting (24.3%), and incorrect printing (23%). The results from the FMEA showed that the highest RPN was for knitting defects caused by suboptimal tension on the circular loom machine with an RPN of 336. The second highest was uneven cutting due to dirty cutting blades with an RPN of 294, and the third was incorrect printing due to worn printing plates with an RPN of 252. The recommended improvements are that the company should enhance the sensors on the circular loom machine to detect if the machine tension is out of standard, clean the cutting machine before each production, and routinely replace the printing plates.
