Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of walking tours organized by the Begandring Soerabaia Community and examine its relevance to the theory of experiential tourism. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach with data collection techniques through observation, interviews with community leaders, tour guides, and participants of Subtrack activities, supplemented with documentation. The results show that the Subtrack activity initiated by the Begandring Soerabaia Community reflects the concept of experiential tourism. From the perspective of Tourist On Site Experience, this is represented in Subtrack activities through three main aspects: (1) the aspect of activities, as seen from the variety of activities such as exploring historical routes, social interaction between participants and the community, and additional activities such as theatrical performances and local culinary tours. (2) the resource aspect, evident in the utilization of historic urban spaces, the selection of easily accessible locations, and the involvement of the local community in supporting the sustainability of Subtrack activities. (3) the conceptions aspect, evident in the participants' process of interpreting historical values, local pride, and awareness of the importance of cultural heritage preservation as conveyed through community narratives. However, the study also found the need to strengthen the conceptual dimension through more creative, interactive, and adaptive narratives tailored to the characteristics of the younger generation so that these activities become more inclusive and relevant.
