Abstract
The Potassium Sulfate plant is designed with a production capacity of 55,000 tons per year, using Potassium Oxide derived from empty fruit bunches (EFB) of oil palm and sulfuric acid as raw materials. The production process includes burning EFB to obtain K₂O, dissolving and separating the ash, reacting it with 1N sulfuric acid with a conversion of 93%, followed by concentration, crystallization, drying, and grinding to produce the final product. The plant is located in the Tanjung Buton Industrial Area, Siak, Riau, operates 24 hours per day for 330 days per year, and requires various utilities such as electricity, water, and steam. The economic analysis shows a return on investment (ROI) before tax of 31.69%, ROI after tax of 23.77%, an internal rate of return (IRR) of 19.92%, and a break-even point (BEP) of 36.88%, indicating that the plant is technically and economically feasible.
