Abstract

A mononitrotoluene (MNT) manufacturing facility with an annual production capacity of 40,000 tons is planned to be constructed in the Tangerang industrial zone, Banten. The plant is designed for continuous operation, running 24 hours per day for approximately 330 operational days each year. The process utilizes nitric acid supplied by PT Gemilang Karunia Abadi, toluene sourced from PT Trans Pacific Petrochemical Indotama, and sulfuric acid catalyst obtained from PT Mitra Tsalasa Jaya. The resulting MNT product serves multiple industrial applications, including pesticide formulation, rubber-additive manufacturing, synthetic pigment production, and as a key intermediate in polyurethane synthesis supporting the manufacture of foams, coatings, elastomers, and curing components for polyurethane-based adhesives.
