Abstract

Saving behavior is an important phenomenon that reflects an individual’s ability to manage finances and plan for the future. In a constantly changing economic environment, saving serves as an indicator of financial independence and sustainable economic growth. This study aims to analyze the influence of financial literacy, lifestyle, and peer groups on the saving behavior of Generation Z in Surabaya. Generation Z, as a cohort born in the digital era, faces unique challenges in managing their finances, including their saving habits. This research employs a quantitative method using primary data. Data were collected through a questionnaire distributed via Google Forms to respondents in Surabaya, with a total sample of 100 Generation Z individuals. The data were processed and analyzed using the Partial Least Squares (PLS) model with SmartPLS Version 4.0. The results show that financial literacy has a positive and significant effect on saving behavior, while lifestyle and peer groups have negative and significant effects. These findings highlight the importance of improving financial literacy, managing lifestyle choices, and fostering a supportive social environment to encourage saving habits among Generation Z. This study is expected to serve as a basis for designing educational programs and policies that promote saving behavior among young generations.
