Abstract

This internship was carried out at Bitumen Plant Gresik, PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, with the objective of analyzing the drum fabrication process used for the storage and distribution of asphalt. The study focused on evaluating machine efficiency, identifying factors affecting product quality, assessing defect levels, and reviewing maintenance practices within the production line. Data were collected through direct observation, literature review, interviews, and analysis of daily production reports. The production process consists of several stages, including rolling, welding, flanging, corrugating, pressing, double seaming, leakage testing, and painting. Based on the production report dated January 23, 2025, a total of 1,515 drums were produced, with 12 drums classified as defective, resulting in a machine efficiency of 99.21% and a defect rate of 0.79%. The primary causes of defects include welding imperfections, leakage during testing, and visual deformities on the drum body. Production efficiency is influenced by machine conditions, raw material quality, operator skills, and the implementation of preventive maintenance. Additionally, the introduction of a barcode system has improved stock control accuracy and operational efficiency
