Abstract
The design of an Oleamide Plant with a production capacity of 35,000 tons per year is proposed to be established in Mitra Industrial Area, Karawang, West Java, operating continuously for 24 hours per day and 330 days per year. The production process applies the amidation method using oleic acid and urea as raw materials with aluminum chloride catalyst at 160 °C. The reaction product is purified with chloroform and crystallized to obtain solid oleamide. Considering the increasing demand for oleamide in the plastic and rubber industries and the potential to reduce imports, the plant is technically and economically feasible, providing opportunities to strengthen the national chemical industry and create new employment in the Karawang region.
