Abstract
This study aims to analyze the influence of harvested area, rice price, rice consumption, and population on food security in East Java Province for the 2020-2024 period. The data used were panel data from 38 districts/cities analyzed by regression using STATA software. Model selection was conducted using the Chow, Hausman, and Lagrange Multiplier tests, and the results indicated that the Random Effects Model (REM) was the best model. The results showed that harvested area had a significant positive effect on food security, rice price also had a significant positive effect, rice consumption had a negative but insignificant effect, while population had a significant positive effect. This indicates that agricultural production and demographic factors are the main determinants of food security, while rice consumption has no significant effect. The implications of this study emphasize the importance of increasing productivity and protecting agricultural land, controlling rice prices, and diversifying food as strategies to strengthen food security in East Java.
