Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of group dynamics and group performance on the independence of Kosaghra Lestari Farmers Group, an urban farming group. The research employed a quantitative approach using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS) analysis with 42 purposively selected respondents. The results showed that both variables had a positive and significant effect on group independence. Group dynamics, particularly the active participation of members in group discussions, emerged as the most dominant indicator, indicating that direct involvement in group forums fosters a sense of belonging, trust, and collective initiative that strengthens independence. Meanwhile, in terms of group performance, the ability to achieve targeted activities was the strongest indicator, showing that the group’s capacity to carry out planned programs efficiently reflects its readiness to manage activities independently. These findings highlight the importance of fostering active communication among members and enhancing program implementation effectiveness as key strategies to strengthen the foundation of sustainable group independence.
