Abstract

Surabaya Creative Center is a design project aimed at creating an innovative space that supports the growth of the creative economy in the city of Surabaya. The background of this research focuses on the need for facilities that can facilitate collaboration and the exchange of ideas among creative industry players, considering challenges such as the lack of affordable workspaces and access to capital. By adopting a narrative architecture approach, this project seeks to integrate elements of the creative economy into the design, thereby creating an authentic and emotional experience for its users. The main objective of this research is to design a creative hub that not only functions as a workplace but also serves as a landmark that reflects the identity of the city. The research methods used include literature studies, interviews with stakeholders, and user needs analysis. The findings indicate that the proposed design is capable of creating a flexible and inspiring environment, with facilities such as co-working spaces, studios, and performance areas that support interdisciplinary interaction. The conclusion of this research is that the Surabaya Creative Center can function as a catalyst for the growth of the creative economy in Surabaya, while also serving as a model for the development of other creative spaces in Indonesia, providing a positive impact for both the community and the creative industry in the region. Keywords: Surabaya Creative Center, narrative architecture, creative economy, collaboration, spatial design.
