Abstract
Schizophrenia is a significant chronic mental disorder that greatly affects quality of life. Psychosocial rehabilitation is a key approach in restoring social functioning and improving the quality of life of people with schizophrenia. With the increasing number of mental disorder patients in Lawang sub-district based on the 2022 Annual Report on Mental Hospital Visitors, the design of this Psychosocial Rehabilitation Center is considered an innovative choice to provide a place for rehabilitants and medical personnel to meet the specific needs of schizophrenia sufferers in East Java. This facility is designed with a therapeutic architectural approach that utilizes architectural elements to support the successful recovery of rehabilitation patients. It is hoped that this rehabilitation center can improve the quality of life of patients and reduce the social stigma associated with mental illness. This approach focuses more on physical or non-medical activities with the aim of helping patients regain their social functioning within the community, their independence, and their quality of life using a pattern-based framework.
