Abstract

ABSTRACT study aims to analyze the effect of years of schooling, economic growth, and the Gini ratio on poverty levels in Java Island. The research employed a descriptive quantitative approach with a sample of six provinces that met the criteria over 15 years of observation, from 2010 to 2024. Data analysis was conducted using a panel data regression model to examine the relationships between variables. The results show that years of schooling (X1) has a probability value of 0.0000, indicating a significant effect in reducing poverty. In other words, the higher the average years of schooling, the lower the poverty level. Conversely, economic growth (X2) with a probability value of 0.1407, and the Gini ratio (X3) with a probability value of 0.8360, do not have a significant effect on poverty levels. These findings highlight the need to focus on the education sector as a key strategy for poverty alleviation in Java. The government should enhance access to and the quality of education to extend years of schooling. Additionally, economic growth policies should be designed to distribute benefits more evenly, and income inequality management should continue to support overall welfare. Future research is recommended to include other variables such as education quality, detailed income distribution, and socio-cultural factors. Keywords: years of schooling, economic growth, Gini ratio, poverty level
