Abstract
Rewinding electric motors, especially copper coil winding, is an important part of electric motor maintenance. Manual winding tools commonly used still have several limitations. These include taking a long time to make, not working with large-sized wires, and producing less precise results. An ergonomic and efficient copper winding tool has been developed in this study using the Ergonomic Function Deployment (EFD) and Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) methods. Test results show that the proposed tool has the ability to accelerate processing time and improve efficiency, eliminate the need for re-calculating windings, and balance the work process, thereby reducing production constraints. Through a design tailored to user needs, this tool improves operator comfort and safety. The previous tool could wind 1 block of coils in 1 minute, while the new tool can wind 3 blocks of coils in 1 minute. Therefore, this recommended tool helps improve workshop performance and customer satisfaction while addressing issues in the rewinding process.
