Abstract

This study focuses on how Gen Z constructs their virtual identity through Instagram and LinkedIn in building an expertise profile. The research was conducted in response to the growing use of social media as a means of self-actualization. Gen Z utilizes social media, particularly Instagram and LinkedIn, simultaneously to showcase their skills, achievements, and experiences in order to create a professional self-image. These two platforms have distinct characteristics but complement each other, allowing Gen Z to strategically strengthen their virtual identity. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, this study explores the process of virtual identity formation among Gen Z through observation and in-depth interviews with informants who actively use both platforms to support their career needs. The findings reveal that consistency in self-presentation, accompanied by the application of cross-platform linking, is key to building a strong personal branding. Gen Z's awareness in applying multiplatform personal branding strategies enables the formation of a professional image that enhances their credibility in the workforce. Keywords: Gen Z, Virtual Identity, Personal Branding, Expertise Profile.
