Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of Average Years of Schooling, Provincial Minimum Wage, and the Open Unemployment Rate on income inequality, as measured by the Gini ratio. A quantitative approach is employed using panel data regression methods. The study utilizes secondary data covering five provinces with the highest levels of income inequality in Indonesia, namely D.I. Yogyakarta, DKI Jakarta, West Java, Gorontalo, and West Papua, over the period 2015–2024. The analysis is conducted with the aid of EViews software. The estimation results indicate that average years of schooling has a negative and statistically significant effect on income inequality. In contrast, both the provincial minimum wage and the open unemployment rate show a positive and significant influence. These findings highlight the importance of policy interventions in the areas of education, employment, and wage-setting, which should be more inclusive and tailored to the specific characteristics of each region. Keywords: Income Inequality, Gini Ratio, Mean Years of Schooling, Minimum Wage, Open Unemployment.
