Abstract

This study aims to identify the language of skills used to narrate the qualifications required in digital marketing jobs, while also uncovering the practice of linguistic hegemony exercised by employers as reflected in job advertisements. The research employs Semantic Network Analysis as its primary method. The findings reveal the presence of linguistic imperialism, where English is used to glorify certain job positions over Indonesian. The study also finds that labels such as “Senior,” “Work From Home,” “Remote,” and “Intern” serve as symbolic tools to frame the value of job positions—either to convey prestige or to justify lower wages. Through these naming strategies, employers maintain their hegemony by constructing symbolic value around work, thereby masking inequality and reinforcing dominance over job seekers.
