Abstract

Surabaya, as the capital city of East Java Province, plays a vital role in the national economy. The city is home to more than 3 million residents and serves as a key hub for the creative economy in East Java, with 142,438 business units dominating this sector (BAPPEDA Jatim, 2023). East Java itself contributes 20.85% to the national creative economy, far exceeding the national average of 14%. The creative economy sector in Surabaya makes a significant contribution to GDP and provides employment opportunities, especially for the younger generation. However, there are still challenges in terms of infrastructure to support collaboration among creative actors. To address these challenges, the Surabaya Creative Center is designed with a multisensory architectural approach. This approach takes into account sensory elements such as sight, hearing, smell, and touch to create spaces that stimulate creativity and enhance visitor engagement. Through this design, it is expected to foster an atmosphere that supports more intensive collaboration and interaction among creative economy players. The design method employed for this Creative Center is the analogy method, which adapts concepts of open and flexible spaces that have proven effective in supporting cooperation and collaboration within the creative sector. Thus, the Surabaya Creative Center not only functions as a physical facility but also as a space that inspires, facilitates communication, and strengthens networks among players in the creative industry. Through the development of the Surabaya Creative Center, it is expected to strengthen the creative economy ecosystem, enhance the competitiveness of local products, and contribute to the advancement of the creative industry in Indonesia. Keywords: Creative Center, Multisensory Architecture, Creative Economy
