Abstract

Sugarcane farmers face the problem of declining sugarcane productivity, and the bongkar ratoon program is one of the solutions that can be implemented. However, in reality, some farmers have not adopted the bongkar ratoon practice. This study aims to assess the satisfaction of sugarcane farmers with the performance of agricultural extension workers regarding the implementation of the bongkar ratoon program, the level of innovation adoption of the bongkar ratoon program, and the effect of farmers' satisfaction on the adoption of the bongkar ratoon innovation in Sidoarjo Regency. The study involved 50 sugarcane farmers as samples, selected using a purposive sampling method. The samples were randomly drawn using a lottery system. The data analysis methods used include the Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI), Importance Performance Analysis (IPA), scoring, and Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). The CSI analysis results showed a score of 79.16%, indicating that sugarcane farmers are satisfied with the performance of agricultural extension workers regarding the implementation of bongkar ratoon. Meanwhile, the IPA analysis results revealed that two attributes were in Quadrant I, five attributes were in Quadrant II, six attributes were in Quadrant III, and two attributes were in Quadrant IV. Based on these findings, agricultural extension workers should prioritize improving their performance in the attributes of providing targeted solutions to farmers' problems and handling farmers' issues until they are fully resolved. The scoring analysis results showed that the level of innovation adoption of bongkar ratoon among sugarcane farmers, assessed through awareness, interest, evaluation, trial, and adoption, obtained a score of 3.54, which falls into the high category. The SEM-PLS analysis results revealed that farmers' satisfaction does not significantly affect farmers' awareness, farmers' awareness significantly affects their interest, farmers' interest significantly affects their evaluation, farmers' evaluation does not significantly affect their trial, and farmers' trial significantly affects their adoption.
