Abstract
This study aims to understand the impact of gender, financial literacy, self-confidence in financial management, and views on risk on the interest in using online loans. The increasing use of online loans among young people is an important background for this study. The population studied were accounting students from the 2021 batch at one of the Unggul accredited universities in Surabaya, who are part of Generation Z. The sampling method used was stratified random sampling with a total of 290 respondents. This study applies a quantitative method with analysis using Partial Least Square (PLS) 4.0. Data were collected through an online questionnaire. The results of the analysis show that financial literacy and self-confidence in managing finances have a significant positive effect on the interest in using online loans, while views on risk show a significant negative effect. Meanwhile, the gender variable does not have a significant effect on the interest in using online loans. These findings indicate that psychological and cognitive factors play an important role in shaping the intention to use fintech lending, while gender as a demographic factor is not the main determinant in this context.
