Abstract

Agriculture is a crucial sector in Indonesia's economy, contributing significantly to GDP and employment. However, it faces various challenges such as limited land, climate change, and inefficiencies in production. To address these issues, this study evaluates the technical efficiency of rice farming in Lamongan Regency, East Java, using Stochastic Frontier Analysis (SFA). The study integrates agroecological factors such as rainfall, temperature, and soil quality with production inputs like land, labor, and fertilizer. The research uses primary data from 100 farmers (2024) and applies the Cobb-Douglas production function through Maximum Likelihood Estimation (MLE). The model's performance is validated with R² (0.92) and MAPE (13.01%), indicating high prediction accuracy. The findings show an average technical efficiency of 85%, with a potential yield increase of 15% through optimized resource use. The analysis reveals that factors such as labor, water, and land area significantly influence crop yields. Additionally, the study develops a web-based tool for the interactive visualization of SFA results, allowing farmers and policymakers to access technical efficiency data in a more easily understandable format. With this approach, the study offers a practical solution that can be directly accessed by stakeholders, emphasizing the use of relevant modeling to support data-driven decision-making in improving efficiency and agricultural productivity in Indonesia.
