Abstract
The high rate of motorcycle theft crime in Surabaya has made most of the public worried, especially night workers. This phenomenon is also widely reported on media portals such as Instagram. Not only as an entertainment medium, Instagram also contains a lot of information related to local events such as the @aslisuroboyo account which reports on phenomena or events in Surabaya. The purpose of the study was to determine how the public's reception of information about motorcycle theft in Surabaya on the Instagram account @aslisuroboyo. The research method used was an in-depth interview which will then be explained using the reception method by Stuart Hall. The results of the study show that the dominance of messages created by the Instagram account @aslisuroboyo makes the recipient of the message respond in a dominant hegemonic perception that agrees with the addition of personal security for the vehicle they own, on the other hand there are also other informants who are positioned as opposition to the reception of the information provided by the account on the Instagram media.
