Abstract

The development of digital technology has driven the transformation of health and beauty retail services. The Watsons ID application, developed to facilitate online purchases, faces challenges of high negative ratings and user complaints, particularly regarding application performance and service quality. This research aims to evaluate the acceptance of this application among Generation Z using the UTAUT2 model, which has significant value for developing technology adoption strategies amid the growth of the beauty e-commerce sector, which reached IDR 57.6 trillion in 2023. This study examines 15 hypotheses covering the influence of seven UTAUT2 constructs on Behavioral Intention and Use Behavior as well as gender moderating effects. Using a quantitative approach with PLS-SEM method, data from 410 Generation Z respondents were analyzed through purposive sampling. The results show that Performance Expectancy, Social Influence, Price Value, and Habit positively and significantly influence Behavioral Intention. Meanwhile, Effort Expectancy, Facilitating Conditions, and Hedonic Motivation do not have significant effects. For Use Behavior, the factors that have positive and significant influences are Habit and Behavioral Intention, while Facilitating Conditions do not show significant effects. These findings provide important implications for application developers to formulate effective technology adoption strategies with a focus on value, habits, and application performance expectations.
