Abstract
Genre is a clue for the audience to identify the style, structure and storytelling of a movie work. Currently, horror and comedy are still popular genres that are included in the category of all-time best-selling films in Indonesia. Horror movies often feature scenes that provide tension and fear for the audience. Meanwhile, comedy movies aim to provoke laughter. Researchers are interested in looking at the combination of horror and comedy fiction elements that gave rise to another sub-genre, namely comedy horror. One of the Indonesian films produced in 2024 and using the comedy horror genre is the movie Sekawan Limo directed by Bayu Skak. This movie tells about the interesting experience of mountain climbers who get lost on Mount Madyopuro. This research is a descriptive qualitative research with a film genre analysis approach. The researcher used the repertoire of elements to analyze the character, setting, narrative, iconography & style of Sekawan Limo film. The results found that Sekawan Limo belongs to the comedy horror sub-genre category. The film features several horror icons as well as a mysterious setting, visual style and storytelling, just like a horror film. But on the other hand, researchers also found comedic elements that made the audience laugh because of the funny actions and situations of the characters. The researcher also found that there is dialog that is part of the verbal comedy delivered by the characters when laughing at the difficulties they experience together.
