Abstract

In the era of globalization, the development of construction in Indonesia has experienced significant acceleration accompanied by innovation in its implementation methods. One of the main problems in construction projects is material waste, especially in column work. This study aims to analyze the level of waste in column reinforcement work at the Graha Cahaya Kusuma Surabaya Project. The background of this study is the high contribution of reinforcing steel material to construction costs and the large amount of material waste that often occurs due to conventional cutting. To overcome this problem, this study applies Cutting Optimization Pro software which is designed to optimize reinforcing steel cutting patterns and reduce material waste levels. The research methodology involves analyzing material requirements based on shop drawings and calculating the length of reinforcing steel using the Bar Bending Schedule (BBS) method. The data is then processed with the help of software to produce optimal cutting patterns. This study focuses on columns from the Ground floor to the fifth floor, using project detail standards as a reference for calculations. The research stages include data collection, cutting pattern planning, waste level calculations, and material purchase planning. The research was conducted on column work from the Ground to the Fifth Floor with material requirement calculations using the Bar Bending Schedule and cutting pattern optimization through Cutting Optimization Pro Software. The results of the study showed the lowest percentage of D16 waste at 0%, the highest at Ø8 at 2.653%, and the average overall waste at 0.916%. This study provides new insights into the importance of innovation in material planning and management in the construction industry. By utilizing optimization software, contractors can increase efficiency and reduce the impact of material waste. This study is expected to be a reference for contractors in adopting new technologies in material waste management.
