Abstract
Highways are one of the most important land transportation infrastructures that play a significant role in human life. Road damage is a condition that indicates that the road is no longer able to provide optimal service to road users. Malang Regency is one of the regencies in Indonesia located in East Java Province, and there are several collector roads in Malang Regency that have experienced pavement damage. Therefore, it is necessary to handle road damage for the comfort and safety of road users. The methods that can be used to determine the level of road damage are the Pavement Condition Index (PCI) and Bina Marga methods. The assessment of road conditions in the PCI method is with a value range of 0-100, while the Bina Marga method is based on the priority order of roads with a value range of 0-7. This research aims to determine the index value of the damage level on the Malang arterial road section using the Pavement Condition Index (PCI) and Bina Marga methods, which will be mapped using a Geographic Information System (GIS). There are several types of damage at the research location, including potholes, bumps, subsidence, patches, edge cracks, alligator cracks, crocodile cracks, and longitudinal cracks. From the calculations and analysis, the results obtained for the damage value of the road based on the Pavement Condition Index (PCI) and Bina Marga for the West Kepanjen Outer Ring Road 1 - Slorok Highway have a PCI value ranging from 76.7 - 83.6, which is included in the very good category, and has a priority order value ranging from 2 - 5, which is included in the category of periodic improvement and maintenance programs. Then, a thematic map of road damage values is created for each road section.
