Abstract
Indonesia has a long history as a country that experienced colonization for nearly 350 years. This historical background has endowed Indonesia with a rich cultural heritage, both nationally and locally across various regions. Raising awareness of historical continuity is crucial, particularly among the younger generation, to preserve historical sites and relics. One effort to achieve this is through the webcomic Gedangan 1904, which narrates the colonial-era events in Sidoarjo, East Java. This approach aims to introduce local history to young people in an engaging and easily comprehensible manner. This study employs a qualitative research approach using various data collection techniques, including in-depth interviews, literature reviews, questionnaires, and consumer journey analysis. The research process is divided into two main stages: the preparation stage and the design stage. Digital comics were chosen as the medium due to their strong appeal among teenagers and their accessibility through online platforms. The preparation stage resulted in the concept Solidarity Against Colonialism in Gedangan, which serves as a reference for the subsequent design process. The comic is planned to be published on LINE Webtoon with a semi-realistic illustration style, complemented by a warm colour palette to evoke a historical atmosphere. It is expected that this work will serve as an effective medium for enhancing young people's attention to local history. Keyword: Local History, Web Comics, Gedangan, Heritage
