Abstract

In recent times, various technologies have been introduced to facilitate access and processes, aiming for a more practical lifestyle for society. This type of aerator is considered to have relatively high efficiency compared to other types. Its advantages include a simple design, cost-effectiveness, and minimal land usage. Another benefit is its flexible design, allowing customization based on specific requirements. In this study, the variables used include the diameter of the holes on the tray, the distance between the holes, and the number of tray levels. Notably, the hole diameter and spacing will combine to form another variable: the number of holes per tray. One of the key steps is conducting the aeration process with sampling intervals of 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10 minutes to obtain the average reduction in Fe and Mn concentrations, along with DO values. The results of the study concluded that a tray with a 5 mm hole diameter and a 6 mm distance between holes achieved better efficiency in reducing Fe and Mn concentrations, with reductions of 25,62% and 30,80%, respectively, after a 10 minute sampling period.
