Abstract
The planning of the Anthraquinone Factory is expected to produce a capacity of 75,000 tons of Anthraquinone per year in solid form. The factory operates continuously for 330 days a year. The greatest use of Anthraquinone is in the textile industry, where the Anthraquinone compound is used as a component in the dye or textile industry to make valuable dyes because the Anthraquinone compound has excellent fastness properties. In addition to being used as a component of dyes, Anthraquinone is also used in various fields including as a polymerization of various materials for plastics, as an isomerization of vegetable oils, and as an accelerator in coatings on chemical nickel electroplating. Anthraquinone compounds also have uses as chemical bleaching of pulp and catalysts in the pulp and paper industry. The use of Anthraquinone compounds as catalysts in pulp making will increase the results of the pulp making process by increasing the delignification rate and producing a shorter time with a lower temperature. Anthraquinone is formed through a chain reaction. First of all, the raw materials are prepared in the form of Phthalic Anhydride and also Benzene which will be reacted with Aluminum Chloride. Furthermore, the o-benzoylbenzoid acid compound that is formed will be given a catalyst in the form of a Sulfuric Acid compound to break down the bonds of the compound into Anthraquinone and then it will be precipitated using water. The by-product of the reaction in the form of Hydrochloric Acid will be collected, while the precipitation results will be filtered and the cake that is formed will be dried until the Anthraquinone content reaches 99% as the final product.
