Abstract

ABSTRACT East Java Province is one of the provinces in Indonesia which has an area of 47,963 km2, consisting of the eastern part of Java and the Madura Islands. Administratively, this province is divided into 29 districts and 9 cities, with Surabaya as the provincial capital. In 2022, the population of East Java will reach 41.15 million people, with growth of around 0.68% per year. This research uses secondary data from the Central Statistics Agency of East Java Province for the period 2002-2022, with a focus on gender variables, education level, minimum wage and labor absorption. The results of the analysis show that labor absorption in East Java is significantly influenced by the variables gender, education level and minimum wage. Multiple linear regression reveals that gender (β1 = 0.414056) and minimum wage (β3 = 2.072977) have a positive influence on labor absorption, while education level (β2 = -0.016411) has a negative influence. Hypothesis testing shows that individually, gender and minimum wage have a significant effect on labor absorption, while education level does not. Further analysis of this variable also confirmed that there was no multicollinearity or autocorrelation in the regression model, and the model was homoscedastic. The results of this research are important in the context of labor policy in East Java, highlighting the need for further efforts to strengthen gender equality and increase access to education, as well as adapting minimum wage policies to support increased labor absorption. Keywords : Gender, Education Level, Minimum Wage, Labor Absorption.
