Abstract
Custom Culture has actually been growing in Indonesia for a long time, in Indonesia you could say that it is one of the most advanced in the Southeast Asia region. Its development over time is quite healthy for a country located thousands of kilometers from the origin of motorbike modification culture, namely America and Europe. SmokeBelt Garage is a community formed based on a common interest in the same thing, namely custom motorbikes. This research will discuss how the communication patterns used by the SmokeBelt Garage community through custom motorbikes and the lifestyle they have are seen through the activities they carry out, then what phenomena occur in forming Custom Culture in the context of Surabaya society itself. Researchers assume that a unique phenomenon is occurring in urban communities in Indonesia, namely the increasing use of custom motorbikes and the commodification of these objects as a manifestation of a lifestyle that forms an urban identity. This research will use a qualitative descriptive method of communication with a qualitative approach. In-depth interview methods and observations of activities carried out by the SmokeBelt Garage community were the data collection techniques in this research. Qualitative descriptive communication aims to see the perspective of internal members of the community, their relationship with life, to further identify how they view the world. Not only studying a group, qualitative research also learns from a group. Keywords: Communication Pattern, SmokeBelt Garage, Custom Culture
