Abstract

Mental health is an important concern among final year students, especially when they face high academic pressure in completing their thesis. To overcome this problem, this research aims to develop a system for identifying mental health problems using the Forward Chaining and Backward Chaining methods for final year students at the National Development University "Veteran" East Java. The Forward Chaining method allows users to initiate a mental health test by selecting a perceived symptom, facilitating early identification of mental illness. Diagnostic data from Forward Chaining is then processed using Backward Chaining to produce a percentage of selected diseases based on the symptoms that are met. The population of this study consisted of 4,823 final year students at the National Development University "Veteran" East Java, with a sample of 105 respondents according to Slovin's calculations which would later be used to distribute questionnaires to 21 study programs, with each study program represented by 5 final year student respondents. . From the research results, this system is proven to be able to diagnose early mental health disorders based on 105 System Usability Scale test results, including in the good category with a score of 81.16.
