Abstract

The film Ngeri-Ngeri Sedap tells the story of the life of a family with a Batak ethnic background. Like other ethnic groups, the Batak tribe also has unique characteristics that can differentiate it from other tribes, one of the most prominent characteristics is the descent system which adheres to the partineal system, which is a lineage that originates from the father. This film became the subject of research because researchers saw a representation of authoritarian communication patterns contained in the film. This research used a qualitative approach through the semiotic analysis method by John Fiske. Through analysis using theory which consists of three levels, namely the reality level, representation level and ideology level in several scenes and scenes in which several shots were selected. From the research results, it can be concluded that if you pay close attention to the representation of authoritarian communication patterns, it can be concluded. This is shown by the figure of a father who is very stubborn towards his children and does not want to be refuted.
