Abstract

Waste is one of the complex problems faced, especially household waste which is the biggest contributor to waste. There are many programs carried out by the government to implement strategies to reduce household waste and similar types of household waste. The government's program has become a pretty good effort to reduce waste in Indonesia. However, its implementation has not achieved optimal results due to the public's lack of understanding about waste. Currently, humans lack awareness of their own environment. This causes some residents to not fully implement government programs. Providing education to teenagers can form positive sustainable attitudes and habits at an early age. This can become the basis for more environmentally friendly living habits in adulthood. Providing education about household waste to teenagers can have a greater positive impact in the long term. Teenagers are generally more familiar with modern technology and social media. With this, education about the negative impacts of waste can be provided through digital platforms, thereby increasing their level of acceptance and involvement in education. There are many media that can be used for education, one of which is animation media. Utilizing animation as an educational medium is an innovation that is worthy of implementation. Supporting media will bridge communication between the facilitator and the audience. Therefore, one medium that has potential is 2D animation, because 2D animation is linear so it focuses more on conveying the message. The animation design with the title "Environmental story" is a 2D animation designed as education for final stage teenagers. This animation discusses the negative impact of household waste on the environment. The data analysis technique used in this design is descriptive analysis, by collecting data through interviews, Focus Group Discussions and distributing questionnaires. 2D animation is made according to the data that has been obtained, such as presentation through an interesting story, the duration is not too long, everyday language is the language used, and the use of an interesting image style. Through this education, it is hoped that it can increase awareness of the environment. Keywords: 2D Animation, Garbage, Household waste, Teenagers
