Abstract

The problem of the unemployed population can increase demand for jobs anywhere. Unemployment can rise if job demands are not yet met. The city of Tangerang, which has the highest unemployment rate in the province of Banten, has not fully exploited the potential of its labor force and industry. The government's policy to raise the minimum wage every year seems to benefit, but it does not show the expected performance. Employment, minimum wages, and industry are some of the factors that affect unemployment in Tangerang City. This research uses a quantitative approach and uses various types of linear regression analysis. The sample consists of fifteen data points from the Central Statistical Office of Tangerang City, covering the years 2008–2022. Based on the analysis carried out using the SPSS version 25 program, it was found that the minimum wage and the number of industries had a significant impact on the unemployment rate in Tangerang City. On the contrary, the size of the workforce has no significant impact on the unemployment rate in the city. There should be a training program to improve the quality of the workforce in Tangerang City. It's going to get people better prepared for job opportunities. The establishment of a minimum wage by the government is expected to improve the well-being of the people and adjust it to the cost of living.
