Abstract

Exclusive breastfeeding is the provision of pure breast milk to an infant for the first six months of the infant's life. Exclusive breastfeeding is beneficial for reducing infant morbidity, reducing infant mortality, optimizing infant growth, encouraging the development of children's intelligence, and helping to extend the distance of pregnancy for the mother. The World Health Organization (WHO) provides policy recommendations regarding exclusive breastfeeding. In Indonesia, the government has issued policies to support exclusive breastfeeding, but coverage is still low compared to other countries. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method with literature study and interviews to find out efforts to improve the governance of promotion and exclusive breastfeeding in Indonesia from 2012 to 2023 according to WHO recommendations.
