Abstract
Quality control is an important aspect in ensuring that products meet the required quality standards and specifications. This study was conducted at PT Jo Hyojin JNT on the cable tray installation work for the KT&G Indonesia Project. The purpose of this study was to identify the most frequently occurring defects, determine their root causes, and provide appropriate improvement recommendations to reduce product defects. The data used in this study were secondary data obtained from the company's Quality Control records. The analysis was carried out using Root Cause Analysis (RCA), supported by a Pareto diagram and Fishbone Diagram to identify the dominant defects and their underlying causes. The results showed that four main types of defects were identified, namely dimensional discrepancies, weak joint strength, non-uniform coating thickness, and untidy welding. Based on the analysis, dimensional discrepancies were identified as the dominant defect, followed by untidy welding, non-uniform coating thickness, and weak joint strength. The Fishbone Diagram identified five main factors contributing to the defects, namely Man, Material, Environment, Machine, and Method. Improvement recommendations include increasing operator training, strengthening raw material inspection, improving the work environment, conducting routine machine calibration and preventive maintenance, and implementing clear Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and process control checklists. These improvements are expected to reduce defects and improve the quality and consistency of cable tray installation.
