Abstract
Increasing digital literacy in the technological transformation era has become a primary focus for local governments, including the Surabaya Department of Communication and Information through the Broadband Learning Center (BLC) program. Designed to provide Information and Communication Technology (ICT) training, BLC aims to build a digitally savvy community. However, limited information access and service efficiency remain key challenges. This Field Work Practice (PKL) aimed to optimize the BLC program through two main approaches: conducting public ICT training and rebuilding the BLC Surabaya website using a User Interface (UI) and User Experience (UX) approach. The internship took place over four months, from September 6 to December 31, 2024, centered at BLC Karang Pilang. The implementation comprised four phases: system orientation and training needs analysis, intensive ICT instruction alongside an initial website assessment, UI/UX redesign to enhance accessibility, and design implementation with final evaluation. The outcomes demonstrated significant achievements. In ICT training, participants from diverse backgrounds improved their fundamental technological skills in operating computers, office applications, and social media. Concurrently, the website redevelopment delivered an intuitive interface and structure featuring simplified information access and online training registration. By serving as an ICT instructor and UI/UX designer, this activity enhanced BLC Surabaya’s service quality while enabling the student to integrate academic knowledge with field practice. Ultimately, this digital transformation effort is expected to fulfill the Surabaya community’s needs in the digitalization era.
