Abstract
The development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology has driven UPA-PKK of UPN "Veteran" Jawa Timur to implement Yupi, a chatbot equipped with a virtual avatar based on the concept of anthropomorphism, as a career information service. However, the effectiveness of anthropomorphism in enhancing users' acceptance and usage intention toward the chatbot has not yet been empirically established. Furthermore, no previous study has specifically examined this relationship in career service chatbots at Indonesian public universities. This research aims to analyze the influence of anthropomorphism on the usage intention of the UPA-PKK Yupi chatbot based on a modified Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) model. A quantitative approach was employed by collecting data through questionnaires administered to 403 respondents who were alumni of UPN "Veteran" Jawa Timur, with data analysis performed using the Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) method. The results indicate that anthropomorphism has a positive and significant influence on all variables, namely perceived ease of use, performance expectancy, social influence, initial trust, customer experience, and usage intention. This study confirms that an anthropomorphism-based chatbot design approach is an effective strategy for increasing the acceptance and intensity of using AI-based services, particularly the Yupi chatbot.
