Abstract

The rapid development of social media has transformed the way users interact with digital content, particularly in consuming and producing music-based content on TikTok. One notable phenomenon is the emergence of various forms of user participation in content featuring the song Garam & Madu (Sakit Dadaku). This study aims to analyze the participatory culture practices of TikTok users in content based on the song Garam & Madu (Sakit Dadaku) by applying Henry Jenkins' Participatory Culture theory, which consists of Affiliation, Expression, Collaborative Problem Solving, and Circulation. The research employed a qualitative approach using Krippendorff's content analysis method. Data were collected through documentation of TikTok content using the #garamdanmadu hashtag and the original sound of the song, which were then analyzed according to the four dimensions of participatory culture. The findings indicate that Affiliation is reflected in the use of hashtags to connect users within a digital community. Expression is demonstrated through users' creativity in producing various types of content, including song covers, dance videos, parody content, and other creative works. Collaborative Problem Solving appears through tutorial content that enables users to learn dance movements and musical performances. Meanwhile, Circulation is represented by the widespread use of the original sound across user generated content, contributing to the distribution of content throughout the TikTok platform. This study concludes that TikTok users function not only as content consumers but also as active participants who create, develop, share knowledge, and distribute creative content within the digital media ecosystem.
