Abstract

The dynamics of Generation Z’s workplace are characterized by a high tendency toward job-hopping intentions, including in the coffee shop industry in Surabaya. Preliminary observations indicate that Generation Z employees face pressures related to shift work and an imbalance between work and personal life. This study analyzes the influence of work-life balance and job satisfaction on job-hopping intentions among Generation Z coffee shop employees in Surabaya. This study employs a quantitative approach through the distribution of questionnaires to 110 Generation Z coffee shop employees in Surabaya, using a non-probability sampling technique with the purposive sampling method. Data were analyzed using the Structural Equation Modeling method with the Partial Least Squares approach, aided by the SmartPLS application, to test validity, reliability, and relationships among variables. The results indicate that work-life balance and job satisfaction contribute to the job-hopping intentions of Generation Z coffee shop employees in Surabaya. The better the work-life balance and the higher the job satisfaction, the lower the tendency for employees to change jobs. These findings are expected to serve as a basis for evaluation by coffee shop management to reduce job-hopping among Generation Z employees.
