Abstract
This study aims to obtain synthesized empirical evidence regarding the relationship between Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and corporate financial performance using a meta-analysis approach. The data were obtained from previous journal articles that examined the relationship between CSR and financial performance and provided statistical information that could be converted into effect sizes. After applying the inclusion criteria, 20 articles were selected, producing 20 effect sizes. The analysis was conducted using Fisher’s z transformation, a random-effects model, heterogeneity testing, moderator analysis, and publication bias testing with the assistance of Jamovi software. The findings indicate that CSR has a positive and significant relationship with corporate financial performance. The estimated value on the Fisher’s z scale was 0.2335 with a p-value of 0.0066, which was then converted back into a combined correlation coefficient of r = 0.2294. These results suggest that the relationship between CSR and financial performance is positive, with a weak to moderate level of strength. The moderator analysis shows that the type of financial performance measurement and journal publication quality do not significantly moderate the relationship between CSR and financial performance. In addition, the publication bias test does not indicate strong evidence of publication bias.
